Our mission: Building community through healthy food and love of the land
When you become a member of Wild Hill Farm, you are investing in a sustainable future.
In today's global food economy, there are lots of injustices we don't necessarily see in the supermarket. Cheap food may seem like a great deal, but someone down the line is paying the cost, which might include environmental pollution, health problems, or struggling farmworkers.
But organic food is so expensive! It doesn't have to be. By taking out the middleman in our food system, we can ensure an accessible and delicious future for everyone. When your food dollars go directly to the farmer, they can afford to take better care of the land by making more responsible long-term choices. And YOU can afford to eat like a king! In the Rochester area, we are blessed with some of the most fertile soil in the world, but this same land is also threatened by development, and farmers struggle to financially stay afloat. By supporting local farms directly, we can make sure they will continue to thrive in our area for generations.
Get your food directly from the source.
(We are farmers, not middlemen!)
Farms with membership programs like ours exist all over the world. They are called CSAs -- you've probably heard of them. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The concept actually started in Japan in the 1970's, with mothers who were seeking clean, safe, healthy food for their families. There are now over 7,000 CSA farms in the US, with all different styles, options, and distribution methods. It's important to note that now there are also lots of local-farm-food distribution options online, and companies sourcing from local farms and claiming to support a sustainable food system... but these are not the same as supporting a farm directly with your membership, which is the true meaning of CSA.
Community Supported Agriculture is a direct partnership between farmers and eaters.

Good clean food.
Being a Wild Hill Farm CSA member is like having your own big garden, without any of the work. We grow all the vegetables, from broccoli to potatoes, harvest and wash them up fresh and clean for you each week.
We grow the food that you want us to grow. Our crop plan and seed order is based on what our members tell us they like on their end-of-season-surveys. We also offer additional items for purchase during pick-up, like local pasture-raised meat, eggs, and honey, from our farmer friends in the area.
You can be sure that we will never use pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers,
or genetically modified organisms in our growing practices.
We pay close attention to the health of the soil and the farm ecosystem. People always ask us "how do you get rid of bugs if you don't use pesticides?" We love this question because it prompts us to sum up our growing philosophy: Keep the farm system healthy and balanced using preventative techniques, and the pests and diseases are minimal. Plants have immune systems too! Give the plant everything it needs to thrive and it will usually be strong enough to fight for itself. And this all starts with taking care of the soil. We use time-honored responsible farming practices like cover crops, compost, crop rotation, planting flowers to attract beneficial insects, biodiversity, as well as newer technologies like drip irrigation, greenhouse transplant production, and row covers. A pest usually tells us that we're doing something wrong: we let nature teach us how to be better farmers.

It's about more than just the vegetables.
Some farms deliver boxes to the city, but we love inviting people out to our farm!
Many of our members say that the U-Pick garden is their favorite part of belonging to Wild Hill Farm, and that it gives them a sense of peace and relaxation. We love sharing our beautiful fields and 100-year-old barn with our community.
We offer the experience of connecting with the land where your food is grown.
In today's fast-paced technologically-driven world, it's more important than ever to have somewhere you get to feel grounded. Our fields are your fields. Come enjoy the bountiful feeling of abundance and health.
Get down to earth.
As a Wild Hill Farm CSA Member, you get access to your farm 7am-7pm daily during the season.
You're welcome to come check out the crops, have a picnic, bring friends or family for a walk,
or even get your hands dirty volunteering at one of our planting or harvest parties!
